Any of the osc type transmitters in old ARRL handbooks ( 5''s and 60's )
designed for 6v6, 6L6, or 6AG7 can be used with 807 or 1625.. without much
difficulty.
but " low power " with a 1625 ?
as an oscillator that tube will run way more than 60 watts depending on the
power supply.
a keyed oscillator is never a very wonderful cw rig...simple and effective,
sure.
May I ask why not use the Total Classic aproach ... a 6AG7 osc driving a
1625 / 807 as a class C final ?
only a few more parts... still could be built on a pine board if you had
to... but miles better transmitter.
no chirp, no clicks.
These were marketed as Johnson Adventurer, Knight Kit 50 Watt Transmitter,
with a 5U4 rectifier.
you can use diodes cheaply today for the recitfier to save money... or you
could run it off a heathit hp-23 supply.
the 300v will run it fine at 35+ watts input.
BAMA has docs for Johnson Adventurer
and probably also for the Ameco novice transmitter.. a classic keyed
oscillator xmtr using 6v6 / 6L6.
btw.. 6L6 will run 17 watts output on cw. used metal ones can be found
cheaply still.
Not that I dont love 1625's cause I do.
