Now I know why the Johnson Viking Mobile is almost never heard on the air.

This has to be the most physically difficult to service !xMpG! little
transmitter I ever saw. Bandswich wafers are supported by full
width/height shields ( osc, buffer, final) requiring major dissasembly to
get any access.

Seems it was not only possible to mis-wire wafers, but also to insert the
shaft with the switches out of sync !

Even physica cleaning near impossiblilty on some... never mind visually
inspecting wiring/wafers

Then there are the errors in the manual... even the Errata page misses the
fact that they blew it on the 12v filament wiring of the Bias Osc Tube.

All in all, one glorious but truly oddball xmtr. Nice electrical design, but
a mechanical nightmare to service.

Modulates like a bandit.. 10M workee... rest I think the builder never
conquered the manual and procedures.

My nomination for worst ham manuals ever written. ( there are 2 and you have
to juggle between them both to get anywhere)

snarf grumble
