Good to hear of your efforts, Mark. If more folks did this, I believe
there would be more interest in those who visit FD sites due to the
visually-rich and hands-on nature of the older gear.

That brings back memories for me, Ed! I used to haul my KWM-2A and ps
to the CVARC FD back in the 80s with much the same response. There's
even a video tape showing me in the background unloading it from my
little red MGB. Jokes about killing the generator, setting the place
on fire, etc etc. Amusing part was, the KWM-2A always made more
contacts, often 2-to-1 over the 'new' gear, with good comments on
audio and signal strength.
Attended an event Saturday over in NH with MrMike, W1RC. Club
president is a key collector, one of the other fellows organizes the
NH Military Vehicle Meet, and at least one guy is an AMer with a
DX-100 and R-390A. Then there was the token 'League Weenie' as Mike
calls them, talking crap about AM while praising PSK/digital stuff. We
just chuckled and tweaked him a bit.
Haven't heard anything about ER's Vintage FD this year, and wonder if
Mark's approach isn't a better one with the increase in AM and tube
gear interest in recent years? I'd consider getting back into FD
activities in such a way, after the move.
