[Boatanchors] BA's at Field Day

Years ago, when I belonged to a large metropolitan club here in southern
Ontario, I took great personal pride & delight in my capacity as 40-meter CW
tent manager by trotting out my "hot-rodded" Heathkit SB-102 year after year
to Field Day...
And it WAS hot, too --- I added receiver incremental tuning to it, as well
as a razor-sharp 250-Hz CW filter from the old Fox-Tango outfit.
But the "anti-tube prejudice" & bias from the ill-informed non-users at the
FD site was practically palatable --- one OT (who SHOULD have known better)
swore that my "tube junk" was giving his tent no end of grief with
inter-mod! Others would peak at the glowing innards of the rig and snear...
But, he who laughs last, last best: our 40-meter CW tent consistently took
top honours in amassing points in a friendly competition within the club
year after year, & the SB-102 was always at the heart of it all...those were
good times, indeed!
