[Boatanchors] Seeking Info: CN-50085 Loop Coupler

Gang,

I'm looking for background information on a Navy Loop Coupler Unit,  
CN-50085,  built by National Electrical Machine Shops on a 7 DEC 42 
contract for Bu. Ships.

Neat little black box with a National vernier dial that seems to tune 
any random loop of wire to the 15-35 KC range.  I'm setting up to take 
one more shot at SAQ on 17.2 at 09:00 UTC tomorrow.

Anyone know anything?
