[Boatanchors] Winding coils

I grew up spending a lot of time as a kid at Coney Island on the Coasters,
whips, Parachute Jump, etc so had a bit of feeling for the experience.

But nothing is like the real thing such as in the rear seat of a F-4 that
was on afterburner seconds after clearing the deck of the USS Independence
and broke the sound barrier while climbing.

Next thing I knew we were landing at Luanda, Angola were I had an Embassy
service call. Job finished, took a Cessna trip to Nairobi for another job
and then a chopper to another ship that was home until we met up with the
Independence again.

That life style went on for about a year and I was glad to get into National
with a bit more stability in life! And contain my need for speed to the drag
strip.

In 83 I was an engineer rep and did sea trials on the Carl Vinson, CVN-70.
More fun rides as the newly formed squadrons had landed a day out of Norfolk
and were almost constantly in the air for familiarization with the brand new
ship and each other. The skipper was fine with my joy riding during free
time and I was treated extremely well having been ex Navy and had TS
clearances just below nuclear.

Id do it again in a heartbeat.

I also made it a point to ride as many big roller coasters as possible
during business trips around the country right up to 2002.
