[Boatanchors] on topic, looking for software

Hi Gang!!
I found that using Microsoft (I know) Access database works really neat.
They tell me that the Open Office program has a database that does the same
thing. That whole program can be had for under $10.00 on E-Bay. It makes
keeping the tube inventory up and in order easy. You can put it in, in any
order you want and when you save and reopen it, its all in order. So when
you add a bunch of stuff to the inventory all you have to do is to scan down
the list by tube number, i.e. 6SA7, and go to the column where the quantity
is and up date it. If it;'s 7 and you have three, highlite and backspace
the 7 and type in 10. If you want to be able to do this automatically and
sell and receive out of said inventory, then you want an old version of
Quickbooks (I use that too). You can create an inventory in that and update
the quantities and sell out of it as well and it will update when items are
used. The Quickbooks is a little overblown to start with, but it will do
what you want. If you don't want to mess with that, The plain database will
do the same thing. You just have to do the manual addition and subtraction.
They tell me that you can build macros (Huh, what's that??) to do that but
I don't bother. You passed the Extra class exam, so I know that you can do
math. The database is probably the way to do it.
