Band A mixer osc Re: [Boatanchors] Heathkit Mohican question

Anyone answer with band B data? Sorry I can't help you yet.

I picked up a Mohican + manual at a hamfest and maybe band A problems.
On band A, no adjustment of  mixer osc L or C will get the mixer frequency 
455 kHz higher (2055 kHz) on the 1600 kHz end!
Bands BCD work fine with the injection mixer freq above the dial frequency.
Had the Mohican been designed to have the mixer freq on band A track below 
the dial frequency???

For as long as I've owned it, band B (1.6MHz - 4.0 MHz) has been less 
sensitive
than the other bands and the background noise level (connected to a signal
generator or dummy load) has been lower.  My question is: does anyone else
remember this as being characteristic of the Mohican?
