[Boatanchors] Heathkit Mohican question

Hi all, not sure that a Heathkit Mohican is fully qualifies as a boatanchor, but
it comes close. I built this one in the early 60s and just pulled it out to
play with. It works fine still, but needs realignment; which brings up my question.

For as long as I've owned it, band B (1.6MHz - 4.0 MHz) has been less sensitive
than the other bands and the background noise level (connected to a signal
generator or dummy load) has been lower. My question is: does anyone else
remember this as being characteristic of the Mohican?

Representative numbers:

Band Freq Vin
B 1.8MHz 12uV
B 3.8 3.3

C 4.5MHz 2.8
C 8.5 1.2

D 9.5 3.3
D 19.5 1.25

E 20.5 5.9
E 30.5 0.78uV
