[Boatanchors] DX-100 80/160 meter grid drive problem found!

My thanks to Nick England, KD4CPL, and all the others who responded with tips and advice on my DX-100 grid drive problem. It turned out to be the cam on the VFO bandswitch that was slipping and the VFO was never msking it into the 80/160 meter band.

I suppose that when I had the 5R4 arc over and take out my fuses while I was on 80 meters, at some point during the troubleshooting process, I moved the bandswitch to 40 meters. When I fixed the high voltage problem and tried to tune up again on 80 meters and moved the bandswitch back to 80, everything switched but the VFO. The VFO output was still on 40 meters.

Nick reminded me that the VFO in the DX-100 switches independently of the rest of the band switch by means of a mechanical cam arrangement that must be aligned properly. Mine was slipping on the shaft and never engaging the switch which is internal to the VFO enclosure.

Many thanks to all who responded! Your advice saved me a lot of time! Your checks are in the mail ;-)
