Not only that Carl, I won't buy a Big 3 vehicle when I replace my
present Chevy (I have never owned a foreign branded auto either).
The UAW can stuff it after this crap. The same for any union
business that think they come before the country and the rest of us.
I am now actively looking for quality foreign made goods.

Hmmmmm .... close .... Hehehe.

First I'm not is favor of bail outs. For anything !!!!
I was disappointed in the UAW position because with that
stance they basically gave the rest of us the finger.
I wish I could have done that back in the 90's when my
industry at the time was laying off thousands. We were
told not to let the door hit us on the ass as we left
and that it was our responsibility to learn another trade.
That said I did and am better off now than I was then.
If the auto makers survive on their own then likely it
will be a better product. Otherwise it's more of the same.
Now that said I'm still not going to quit buying American
when ever I can but buying American is very difficult.
Not much is left that is made in this country and I don't
see that changing until the society changes as a whole.
Boatanchor connection .... I treat my vehicles as I do
my radios. I'm not interested in the newer vehicles.
I'm fortunate to be able to pull my own wrenches and even
when I'm not I've got enough "Spares" to keep driving .
That is until they outlaw diesel and gas .... Hehehe.
Hey don't laugh there is a movement to tax the cows
down here for farting too much and one of the Carolina's
I believe has recently passed an additional road usage tax.
Apparently states that have vehicle inspection will charge
you for the mileage you drove from the last inspection.
As if you don't already pay a tax for that with fuel.
Course I guess even if you have an alternative energy
vehicle you still get the usage tax. It's getting crazy
and the fun ain't even started yet ....
