[Boatanchors] Harbor Freight

Unfortunately, almost everything in the way of power tools, hand tools, and so forth, are now being made in China. Those include items bought from Sears, Lowe's, Home Depot, and other home improvement centers. Look at the "good old American brands" like Black & Decker and you will see "made in China" on the boxes. The result is that the line between "good" and "junk" has definitely been blurred.

It all depends on just what item you are purchasing, not only from Harbor Freight, but from just about any other source as well as to whether or not you are getting a good product. Fortunately, there is a Harbor Freight store less than 5 miles from my house and I can actually look at the item before I purchase it. It is the same thing with Home Depot and Lowe's, there are stores as close as 2 miles from my house and I can see what I am purchasing. Frankly, I have found things at Harbor Freight that are just as good, if not even better, than similar items at Home Depot or Lowe's. Then, the opposite has been true. In fact, I have found some items that were just not worth purchasing at any of the "normal" outlets.

Even W. W. Grainger is now stocking a lot of things that were made in China and the brands are the "good olde American" brands!

By now, the "vast" majority of us "know" the types of things that we CAN use from Harbor Freight, and those that we's BEST not.

Let's face it. You get what you pay for! We all know their goods are made in China.

You don't put faith and GOOD money into junk.

However, they indeed provide useful items for "us" when you take ALL the above into consideration.

Most of us remember the "Cen-Tech" DVMs. I'm STILL using both that I got.
