The problem with Heath paint (and a lot of the other manufacturers as well) is that they did not prime the metal before painting.  Therefore, when the hot water hits the paint it often "flakes off".  However, it has been my experience that not all the paint comes off and there are usually a few very solidly attached spots of paint left which have to be sanded to remove.

It works just great!!!
I put the cabinet for a SB-620 scope in the dishwasher and it came out sparkly clean, not a speck of paint was left. Fortunately the paint was in big  pieces,  it was easy to clean out the bottom of the dishwasher.
