[Boatanchors] CLEANING OLD RADIOS

Dan,

In addition to all the suggestions here, I've used something called
"Krud Kutter" that I picked up in Home Depot in the section near the
paint thinners. It's environmentally friendly, non-toxic and doesn't
have much of an odor at all (which is why I prefer it over Simple
Green). I used it to successfully clean up a rather severely tobacco
stained S/Line without damaging anything. It still requires care. You
can see the procedure on my web site in words and pictures (www.w2pa.com).

After this cleaning, there is no trace of nicotine stains anywhere and
no smell either (even when tubes are aglow). I also used Windex and a
very weak solution of dish detergent in water but found this stuff
worked the best, especially on metal parts.
