[Boatanchors] NC-300 Band Switch problem

Brian,

I have had similar problems with the dial drums on Heathkit Apaches and
Mohawks. There is a little spring (sort of a baby brother to a clock
mainspring) that supplies the correct tension and if it is set wrong the
drum gets out of sync. I have had to loosen the clamp that holds the
spring to the drum and rotate it a couple of turns to add more tension
and then it stays in sync. So far my NC-300 hasn't had that problem and
I think it generally occurs when someone removes or re-strings the drum
mechanism and doesn't get the tension set correctly again. My NC-400
uses a different spring and arm mechanism for the indicators on the main
and bandspread ranges and it was a major pain to get everything adjusted
properly. Hopefully your NC-300 won't be that difficult!

Hope this helps.
