[Boatanchors] New official acronym

Perry,
Hello and good to hear from you. See you in Massillon this summer.

Morris,
The article I referred to had a picture of one huge shelving unit that I am
sure would hold the average basement full of junk on one shelf. Then just
imagine a warehouse(s) full of them. Apparently the problem is huge. They
pointed out that by the time the B52 is retired in 2040 it would have had a
90 year service record.

I dunno. I feel like I am developing a warehouse of parts and boatanchors.
(albeit a small one) :-)

One reason we all love our boatanchors is that we can get inside them, fix
them, modify them, and give them the love that they need. Parts are not yet

a major problem.

I just read an article in the latest issue of the IEEE Spectrum Magazine.
Seems that all of the modern stuff is causing great problems for the
military since they must keep warehouses full of no longer made components.
Part of the problem is that the military now uses a lot of commercial stuff
which leaves the market place fairly quickly. The new acronym is DMSMS:
Diminishing manufacturing sources and material shortages.

Obviously not a problem for us!
