In defense of Peter Dahl. Have done business with him(them)
for many years, 30 or more, he used to be up in Minnesota or
such a place. His wife was a teacher I think and transformer
work was a side line. They later moved to Texas.
He saved my can a couple of times with broadcast transmitter
parts (transformers, chokes) that RCA or GE could not supply
in a timely fashion. Also less than 1/2 the cost. A 20KW 3Ph
transformer from GE was $17,000.00 I believe and 3 months
delivery. Dahl rewound the our bad one, air freight to him and
back for around $5000.00, in less than a week.
We have purchased some items in past for ham gear, but it was
the understanding they would be delivered late due to backlog.
I work on ham gear in the shop here. Also broadcasting equip-
ment and primarily commercial 2 way. I'll tell any ham that it
will be on a secondary basis that the amateur gear gets worked
on, and most understand that. I do NOT charge as much to
hams as the commercial guys, it more of a service, having been
licensed over 50years, I have learned the art of "scrounging" as
much as anyone, so want to give my fellow hams a break if I
can.
Peter has been a good service and I think we all need a little
patience in getting things. I certainly would like to think that
restoring an old piece of heavy metal radio is not near as im-
portant as keeping a TV/Radio station on the air.
Just my thoughts
