[Boatanchors] Peter Dahl transformers for Amateur Radio -MaybeLater....

I would agree with Grant. My original post was intended to inform those
who might be considering ordering a part from the Peter Dahl company at
the present time.

They are, after all, in business to make a livelihood. And while the
folks on this list have a different perspective as amateur radio
enthusiasts, let's face it: manufacturing replacement parts for amateur
radio equipment from the last century does not have the potential for
making anyone a fortune. I think it is generous Dahl & Co. have gone
to the extent of providing a catalog on their web site of amateur radio
parts that they are prepared to make, with the asking prices. Whether
or not the price and the wait are worthwhile is a matter of individual
choice - no one is forced to buy anything from Peter Dahl or anyone
else. If you don't like the service from one company just cancel the
order and take your money elsewhere!

The fellow from Peter Dahl who called me was very nice, but he did say
"you should hear some of the stuff hams have said to us...". I told him
I was in no rush and that I wished they would just hold my order until
they had time to process it, but he said they had made the decision to
cancel all amateur orders at this time. While I'm confidant I can come
up with a solution to the problem, as there are other transformer
manufacturers and I've even wound transformers myself in the past
(speaking of waiting for delivery!.......) it disappoints me that
capable manufacturers may decide to drop support of the amateur market
because a few lids decide to give them more abuse than business.

Wait until there's only one supplier for amateur transformers, and then
see what the price and delivery times are!
