Actually, silicone seals make very poor adhesives. And their film thickness
is excessive. Mucilage (50's vintage school kids paper cement) will work OK
if you use a patch. But I wouldn't think it would survive long on a staight
edge bond. Super Glue would work OK for a patch. But you only get one chance
to position the patch. If you miss, you start over with a larger patch. But
it would take a long time to cure for a simple crack. Rubber cement? Naah.
Worse than silicone seal. Weather seal adhesive is contact cement. Similar
to Super Glue in that it's intended that you stick two pieces together and
almost immediately they are bonded and immovable.
GC Service Cement, which is similar to Duco Cement or Airplane Cement, is
moderately flexible when cured, has a relatively long cure time but will hold
patches in place immediately (relatively high tack and viscosity). I've repaired
hundreds of BC-611 earphones and microphones and never use anything else.
