[Boatanchors] Clamp control solution

I asked about 100 questions about the clamp control a while ago and with
many fine people helping me this is the method I finally arrived at which is
probably what the book was trying to say but was unclear to me: Put the
transmitter in transmit with the clamp control fully counter clockwise and
put it in an unused crystal position as it says with the meter on plate
current, turn the clamp control clockwise until the plate current meter
starts to move forward past 0, do this fairly quickly as it will run away
but be prepared for a jump all of a sudden. Mine stayed right on 0 (actually
lower than 0) until I hit about the 3/4 mark and then it jumped very quickly
from below 0 to 200-300 Ma, I then put it back CCW a touch and it went to
and stayed right on zero and works fine with full plate current. I don't
know if they all are but mine was very touchy and the pot itself seems to be
OK as it is not erratic.
I tried setting it while it was in VFO position, while I did get full plate
current, when I switched to an unused crystal position it was drawing a lot
of plate current which is when I set it the above way.
The whole reason I kept asking questions was because I was afraid to turn it
too much as the first time I tried it I blew a fuse and thought the meter
wasn't working correctly, the only logical explanation I have for that is I
must have left it in grid current instead of putting it in plate current as
the meter didn't move, at least that I saw.
