My only experience with Svetlana has been the 3 4CX800 tubes in my 
homebrew amp which have been entirely trouble free.  I have also not 
heard any negatives about Svetlana in "internet land" although I am sure 
there have been other failures.  However, I think that the Svetlana 
tubes in general have a well deserved reputation for good quality and I 
hope that your 811A failure was a fluke.  Have you checked the solder 
connections on the socket and then also the tube pins themselves.  If 
the socket is good (try switching the tubes between sockets) then I 
would try reheating the cathode pins to see if perhaps the original 
solder joint is bad.
