I think this also helps explain why so much Collins gear exists in
good shape vs other manufacturers.
And if you stuff the original selling prices into an inflation
calculator, it's amazing how well some of the stuff tracks. A KW-1
that sold for $3850 in 1953 equates to $28K in 2006 dollars. Good
examples average $25K.
I've often seen the R-390 family of receivers as one of the best
'performance for cost' bargains available today. $500 or so can still
get you a very nice example, not counting ebay of course.
