Are you advancing the antenna loading switch?  If you
have a plain DX-100 and the variable loading
modification hasn't been make (Heath MK-3 which
changes the DX-100 into a "DX-100A") there is a switch
behind the little red knob that controls the 50 pf
variable capacitor.

Don't run more than about 5 mA of grid current for
best final tube life.
