The typical LED-in-a-boatanchor installation
involves at least three stages of DC regulation, resulting in both
a voltage-limited and current-limited supply based around the very
latest in bandgap regulators, often with supervisory regulation
and power-up-power-down dimming provided by a team of PIC microcontrollers
and, in the very latest, Ethernet connection to the internet via a
dedicated ADSL modem and Cisco router.
Honestly, it's even worse than the never-ending solid-state R390A
ballast tube replacements.
Tim.
