OK
I got your message. You don't modify military equipment.
I do.And so did allot of hams after world war two. I started out as a kid
in high school. My first effective station was a bored and stroked BC 348/
Johnson Ranger In fact, it started my "under the hood" ham adventures and
peaked my interest in electronics which I followed thru on and worked in the
electronics manufacturing industry, military and commercial radio
communications.
Betcha I'm not the only person that came down the pike this way too.
Will be happily chopping and hacking tomorrow morning. Maybe a little drill
play too.
The surplus Conversion Handbooks are not "horrible" and they do not "ruin"
equipment. They helped average Joe hams bring those paid-for-with-tax-dollar
radios back to useful life without draining their resources and they have
definitely withstood the test of time.
