The 160-meter transverter in the 1974 ARRL manual is also in the 1976, same page
405, but with the small-signal tubes replaced by transistors - the PA's are
still 6146's.
On page 193 of the 1969 manual is the 15-watt 6T9/12AT7 rig mentioned, but also,
on page 487, is an 8-watt transistor v. of it.
One 160-meter AM-capable rig I haven't seen mentioned is some Yaesu FT-101's.
Not all the models do 160+ADs- the listing for the FT-101 (no suffix) in the Ham
Buyer's Guide says not, but my 1973-era FT-101B has it (which is why I bought it
...)
