'Real Radios' and all that. The shot doesn't even show the stepped
sides of the cabinet, which along with the chrome trim gives it a true
Art Deco look. I've been restoring one of these for the last 3 years,
as time permits. Not much left to do except find more time to do it
in.

So far as I know, it's regular glass. It gets warm, but not hot enough
to require tempered glass.

That's been modus operandi for AM homebrewers for decades. Not
everyone does it, but many do. Collins used windows on their 30K and
KW-1 models, Gonset on one of its VHF amps. Can't recall off the top
of my noggin who, if anyone, else did. Was a no-no back in the TVI
days without proper shielding, which probably explains why so many
older amateur transmitters lack windows.
