I got new power tubes, 6293's which most people seem to think are better
6146's and new 1625's and rectifiers, it seems everything was OK except the
old power tubes were 6146B's (6146W's). I still can't seem to get over about
100 ma of plate current, I'm wondering if I'm following the manual correctly
or misreading it or something. Can someone give me minute directions on the
stuff on page 49-51 of the manual especially the grid current and driver
plate current. The book is not clear on which scale to use and when, for me
anyway. I need the "DX-100 Transmitter Set up for Dummies" I think, probably
out of print now though. Everything seems to work well enough on both CW and
mic. light bulb seems bright enough especially on voice peaks. I'm getting
over 800V plate voltage. When I dip it I always get about 100 ma plate
current. I have not used the driver plate current part of the meter for
anyhting, the way I read it is to use the final grid current part of the
meter to set up the drive as is written in the middle of page 50 as it says
to leave it in grid on the preceding page and never says when to use the
driver plate current meter. I upgraded to general tonight.
