[Boatanchors] SB610 trade?

Hi All

I have a heathkit sb-610. Seems to work fine with the RF envelope setting with my transmitter. I have not tried the RF TRAP mode because I do not have an amplifier. Putting an AF signal into the horizontal input and setting the unit on RTTY, I get a nice horizontal line. Looking at the wiring, it appears that the vertical input is set for a receiver IF of 3MHz to 6MHz (presumably the heathkit receivers). I tried to inject a 3MHz-6MHz signal into the vertical input and got no vertical deflection. I cannot tell if this is right or wrong. I would assume there might be some tweaking needed in this circuit. There are still two old-style 40uF 350V electrolytics which I will replace if I can get caps, I will replace. HV caps look new. I have fixed the unit's tone generator circuit. Someone before me had the PECs in the wrong places (swapped).

Cosmetics: Front panel is excellent both physical condx and paint. Interior is excellent. Cabinet has dirt and rust spots. Will definitely benefit from a paint job

I also have an SB-620. This was set up for 455Khz. While I can get a pip using a 455KHz generator, I am not sure if this is working correctly. I would assume this will need alignment and/or part replacements. This unit also has two BNC outputs. The guy I bought it from said these are XY outputs for a scope. I guess he used a larger scope for display. This means that the 620 scope and the external scope can both be used. I have not tried these outputs.

Front panel very very good. Yellow plastic crt cover very good, but has some crazing/cracking at the very top just as it reaches the black bezel. Really not noticeable since its really above the crt anyway. Cabinet is very nice, not mint but very acceptable with just a few very small paint chips.

Both units have original 2-wire power cord. They are in good shape however. The cord on the 610 is intact but has been twisted over the years.

So here's the deal. I am looking for a cosmetically and functionally very nice SB610 that has the vertical input set for RTTY use (much fewer parts needed). I could convert my unit and remove all the unecessary components but I would rather it go to someone who can use those hard to find parts (coils etc).

The deal is for a trade. I want one very nice SB610 (with rtty set up) in trade for my SB610 AND my SB620. I also just ask for you to pay my shipping costs as I will be shipping one more unit than you will be shipping.

Pictures can be made available, and I would probably like to see yours too.

Let me know if there is any interest.
thanks
Eugene
