Put a lightbulb in series with the line cord and turn it on.

The lightbulb will burn brightly at first, but should dim somewhat as the 
tubes warm up.

Try transmitting a bit with the bulb still in-line.  If it gets very bright 
you may have a problem.  The bulb will pulse as you modulate.
