Glad to hear there is an upsurge.
I had PP 4CX250's with 811A modulators from about 1965-67 and a handful of
xtals. I was already on 6M SSB and saw the handwriting and converted the amp
to AB2 and built a transverter. Didnt get back on 2M AM until 8-9 years ago
when I came a cross a Clegg Zeus & Interceptor at a bargain price.
Yes, I had an ARC-4 also in high school along with a Techcraft converter.
The HS radio club trustee was the AV instructor and supervised the
conversions a group of us did. It sure was better than the SCR-522's that
were everywhere back then (mid 1950's). Built a Twin 5 antenna and was
amazed at the "DX" I could work when the tropo was in.
CQ Magazine was great back then, blew QST away for tech articles.
