I do want it to read the original 75 amps and I will try to
construct or find what you suggest.

****** Most current transformers use the torroidal method of
construction, the necessary core would most probably available from normal
suppliers.

One further question, wouldn't 15:1 come
into this equation since full scale presently says (in the small print) 5
amps and the full scale reading of the meter is 75 amps?

****** 15:1 is the ratio of the current transformer.Your meter has marked
on its scale, the meters FSD (full scale deflection) figure of 5 Amps.
Multiply the 5 Amp figure by the ratio and you get 75:5. In other words,if
you pass 75 Amps through the primary of the current transformer, you will get
5 Amps from the secondary to which the meter is connected, the meter thus
reads full scale which now represents 75 Amps.

Brian Goldsmith.
