I find fluorescent lighting low and over the back of the workbench
best-not too far back but far enough so you can fit a shade in front
to block direct glare into eyes.Paiting the rear wall white helps and
supplemnt this all with the sort of thing you have suggested for the
tricky stuff.

Subject: [Boatanchors] bench lighting?
While learning how to work on boatanchors, it seems I am unsatisfied
with the lighting on my bench which is currently supplied by a simple
flexible neck desk lamp. Sees there is never a good place to put it
and wherever I do put it, my head seems to cast a shadow right where I
need the light.
So I've decided to get a better light. I have located the following
and was wondering if anyone out in BA land would caution against this
model/type or would recommend something better.

The light is the very first item on this page.
thanks
