[Boatanchors] question on TR Relay use

Hello all,

I am getting dangerously close to getting my first HF antenna up and so now its time I get the shack wired up a bit.

My TX is a CE100V, My RX is 51J4 (with prod detector mod). I have a Dow relay that takes the 115VAC from the CE100V to switch. It also has some aux contact to mute the RX.

I have a ME 165/G combination power/SWR meter/dummy load. The question is, does the change over relay go before the 165/G or after? If the relay is before then even during receive, the signal will go through the meter unit. If the relay is placed after the 165/G then receive will bypass the 165/G directly from antenna to receiver.

Other than this difference (Which I don't know if its meaningful), does anyone know if there is a right/wrong way to do this?

thanks
Eugene
PS You can see the ME 165/G here (not mine!): http://www.xs4all.nl/~pa0fri/Diversen/ME165G/me165eng.htm
