[Boatanchors] repair wirewound resistor in Super Pro power supply

I recently picked up a couple of Super pros at Hoss Traders in Ct., a
SP-400-X and a BC-779-B which has a much bigger power supply than any other
Super Pro I have and one of the wirewound resistors has a break in the
middle. I have both ends of the wire at the break and wonder if this can be 
soldiered or should I
just put a power resistor in it's place?
