There are more than enough wannabe types who see it as their duty to
inform you how you must give your stuff to others, how much you should
charge, what you 'need', etc.

As to John's remarks....

Mentioning ebay is fine, listing your items there and posting the ad
here is not. I didn't see anything about Walt saying he wanted 'ebay
prices', more accurately that he was offering to the list first before
going there. Too bad more folks don't do this, but with this kind of
nonsense I can see why they wouldn't bother. More often, it's the
other way around: they try ebay and can't sell it, then decide the
lists are worthy afterall.

Not to me. Sounded like 'if no one here is interested, I'll stick them
on ebay'.

Extortion? Gimme a break.
EXTORTION - The use, or the express or implicit threat of the use, of
violence or other criminal means to cause harm to person, reputation,
or property as a means to obtain property from someone else with his
consent.

Ah, yes - the good ol' "you got it cheap so you MUST sell it cheap"
argument. So you get to determine how much profit this guy should or
shouldn't make on a deal? Come now, comrade King. What it seems to
come down to is that you didn't get the deal, someone else did.
Happens to most of us at some point. I wonder if he thought you were
trying to 'extort' it from him for less than what it was worth?
Makes one wonder how many of these guys would find a gold piece, $20
bill, or anything else on the street and just hand it to someone else.
These are the ones who give thrifty, resourceful hams the name of
'cheap'. Some certainly are, obviously.
Maybe it would be better if some folks got back to 'radios' and
stopped trying to instruct others to redistribute their wealth,
collections, and so on. The only thing ebay has hurt are those who
still expect something for nothing. Since it's not a requirement, you
don't have to participate if you don't like it. There will always be
those who want something that isn't theirs, that someone else has,
because they feel they're entitled to it. We're not going to solve
that here, or ever.
I wasn't interested in the gear Walt, but I sure do appreciate you
offering it here first.
