Hey Gary & group -
Yes, this has happened to me sortakinda. I didn't end up bringing it
home, but an old RME 69 project that I sold off at a yardsale in the
early 80s showed up at a local hamfest about 10 years later. Looked a
bit better, might've even worked. The guy who had it for sale on the
back of his car wasn't around.
Something else surfaced also, but for the life of me, I can't remember
what. I do remember thinking fondly of it and how it had once been
mine, but 'onward and upward' and all that. Haven't had too many
things I've regretted parting with though, so that's a plus (until
it's time to move). Okay, I just remembered - it was an S-40B that I
traded for in high school, took to college, resold to the previous
owner, then bought back years later at a yard sale they were having at
his house after he died. I foolishly sold it later when trying to pare
things down a bit. Wasn't a particularly stellar or otherwise great
receiver, but it sure seemed to find its way back to me by a very
small chance.
Slightly related, I once came across a car I had owned but sold years
earlier, next to a gas station where it had been towed. Seems the
owner left it on the street during a winter parking ban. He'd painted
it a different color, but I still recognized it. Sure brought back
memories.
