Speaking of Hallicrafters promotional items, I have a brass globe, about 6.5 
inches tall, with the globe being about 4.25 in diameter.  There's a girdle 
around the globe, at about a 45 degree angle, that allows a portion of the 
top of the globe to open.

Perhaps a pencil holder?

On the base there's a piece of leather inserted into a slight cavity that 
says "Hallicrafters".  There's other text, as well, but I cannot make it 
out.

Quite a nice piece; obviously not made in China or Japan.  My wife found it 
in an antique store about 25 years ago.
