[Boatanchors] Cleaning A Grungy Chassis

There has been another thread in the last year or two on one or the
other reflectors about 409 being unapproved for aircraft use because of
the way it attacks and corrodes aluminum. One comment was that it tends
to cause corrosion under rivets, impairing electrical conductivity.
Another referenced the ionic contamination of porous connector bodies,
including mica, phenolic and unglazed ceramic tube sockets.
For nicotine and greasy dirt, I haven't found anything that works any
better than GoJo Hand Cleaner. The white, lotion consistency version,
not the orange variety with sand! It melts away any greasy substance
along with nicotine, washes off with water, puts a nice shine on wrinkle
finishes, and doesn't leave your hands feeling like the Mojave desert.
Easy to spread around, stays where you put it, and you can work it in
with soft bristle brushes for corners and textured finishes. I have
used it on all eras of equipment, and have yet to have it attack
anything but dirt. Paint, silkscreen lettering all tolerate it just
fine with no fading. My cleaner of choice.
