Any acidified thiourea is similar. You MUST rinse very well with cold water. The
surface is chemically active and will retarnish in a few days.

Copper plating is easy. Surface finish depends on solution strength and
composition and critically on current density. If you are just looking for
cosmetics, consider 'pad' plating.

Brass is an alloy and MUCH harder to do well.
