[Boatanchors] Cleaning copper plated chassis?

I used to buy a powder at the supermarket for cleaning copper-bottomed 
pans.  I can't remember what it was called, but it was very effective. 
It might be slightly abrasive, but it obviously worked by chemical 
action.  Did a beautiful job with minimum work.  Someone will remember 
what it's called.
