    Well, neither did I. Someone on the AM list suggested not cleaning them and
trying it first.

 Thin yes, they are just plated. However, unless there is arcing, ther plating
should remain. The arcing just destroys everything.

  Contact wheel is in good shape.

   I can't recall exactly but I do recall  that there was at least deflection.
I did get 125 watts  as masured on a Bird 43 into a resistive load.
