Thanks to all for your kind answers on
AC plug and receptacle.
In Korea we had 100V 60Hz until 1970s but our government
changed to 110/220 dual voltage system in the 1980s
and recently all changed to 220V 60Hz system.
So it took about 20 years to convert from 100 to 220 nationwide.
During the transition period, many 100/110 electrical equipments
were damaged due to mistakenly applying 220V.
Our 100V plugs and receptacles used to look like US ones
except there was no narrow and wide blades. Both
blades were same size.
Now we use 220V and our plugs are the same as most
European ones.
Two weeks ago I travelled Turkey and I was able to
use Korean plugs with no problem. Turkey is using 220V 50Hz
while ours is 220V 60Hz.

I heard US is also planning to raise the current 117V to 200 some
volts. Old US euipments use 115V and now 117V and is rising to 120V?
Could some one answer this?
