That has been my experience too.  You cant really blame 
people though.  If you tell a prospective buyer that the 
equipment is no good, it makes it very difficult to sell 
regardless of price.

I consider that nearly all used equipment up for sale has 
some sort of defect.  People dont normally sell stuff at 
flea market prices if it works just fine.
