[Boatanchors] Hallicrafters PS-500A-AC question ???

I'm restoring/rebuilding a PS-500A-AC power supply for my Hallicrafters SR-400 transceiver. The schematic calls for the two HV electrolytic caps to each be 90mfd @500vdc wired in series with 15k ohm, 10 watt bleeder resistors across each cap.
I'd like to use what I have on hand in modern replacement metal can-type caps to replace these. I've got two, brand new, 100/100 @ 500vdc multi-section cans that will fit just fine.
I know that using just one section of each can (and ignoring the other section) will do the job but can anyone advise what effect it might have if I parallel the two 100mfd sections in each can and then wire them in series as per the schematic?
If my math is correct that would change the total series capacitance in the HV filter circuit from 50mfd to 100mfd. If I do this, any other pitfalls to look out for?
Just wondering. All opinions welcome and appreciated! Curiosity is going to be the end of me yet... Thanks, Bill, wd0x at adelphia.net
