Groups,

Before Rita hit, several of you wrote to wish us luck, which we appreciated.
In the end, for the west side of Houston Rita became a near miss instead of
the direct hit being forcast Thursday and part of Friday. We lost power Friday
night, of course. Had a lot of tree limbs down but thankfully no complete
trees. Ran the generator all day Saturday, which gave us lights, fans and TV.
By what passes as a miracle around here, we actually got power back late
Saturday and were able to start cleanup Sunday. No damage to house, storage
buildings or TM collection (which I had covered with tarps Friday in case a tree
holed the roof).

Step-daughter and her family, including grand-beagle, are still living with
us, though. Their house only a couple of miles away is still without power.
And day-time highs have been 100+ since Sunday.

Our sympathies go out to people including any list members east and north of
Houston where the storm finally went.
