I really don't 'get' why hams want to 'keep stuff in the fraternity'.

I've seen hams buy essentially NOS BC-1066s because they want the dial for some home brew project, which
will, likely as not, never get finished or work properly, or even get started. WHY is that a better fate
than to sit on a collector's shelf ?. IMO it is not.

If you READ the original post, the guy just does not want the bother of listing the stuff and would rather
trash it. How is THAT a better fate than letting someone cart it away, list it on eBay, and have it
actually go to someone who REALLY WANTS it, as evidenced by the fact that they are willing to pay for
it.?? (And, BTW, I do not sell on eBay because  don't like their credit card requirement, so  have no
interest in promoting them)

Most hams I know would much rather have nice new rice boxes anyway.
