[Boatanchors] Spraypainting radio cabinets

You may want to investigate the low cost solution of using a CO2 driven
paint sprayer.
Several years ago I bought a kit from ACE hardware that consisted of a pint
jar, a
sprayer head and a cartridge. Ran less than $10.00. ACE custom mixed the
color I
wanted, a qt of Hallicrafters gray water based latex paint. Applied this
over an undercoating
of rust inhibitor and the results were perfect! In my case I was restoring
a large spot on
the steel chassis of a BC-610E exciter. A previous owner had stored the
'610 such that
water had dripped through the top of the cabinet, onto the exciter causing
the paint to peel.

I've used the rattle cans in the past but usually ended up with an uneven
looking surface on
larger areas. The latex when applied on a level surface seems to smooth out
and cover
more evenly as compared to using the rattle cans.
