CQ Fellow Lovers Of Things That Go Glow In The Dark -
Although the repairs and restoration of my QTH, and replacement of damaged
computer equipment, are still a work in progress, I am at least back to being
able to get on-line to a limited extent.
The remainder of the home repairs are supposed to be completed Wednesday October
19th. The replacement of my primary computer, Laser printer, color scanner and
adaptive synthetic speech hardware is in progress, but moving at the rate of a
Narcoleptic Turtle using a crutch! Because I must depend on two dedicated
computer systems that do specific tasks which allow me to manage the daily data
processing and bill paying that we all must endure, and since one is down for the
count, I have jury rigged the old Compaq Prosario 1210 lap top to help me bail
the boat of life out and keep her afloat until the new ship arrives and is
promptly christened by having a Boat Anchor dropped on the packing crate! On
second thought, forget it, as the way my luck has been running the past two
months that boat anchor is apt to crush, not christen, my foot!
When possible, I have kept an ear on the lists, when not, several others kept an
eye on them for me. Thanks to all, especially Al Waller, K3TKJ.
I have ressumed putting the final touches on the digital video disk, after the
unplanned four week delay due to the storm damage, and hope to ship it to the
production facility in California on Friday october 21st. If all goes as
scheduled, I hope to ship it on october 31st, Halloween, the Magician's holiday.
Thanks to the super scanning job several of you assisted me with, the video
formatting guidance from a local TV station and the sixty+ hours of photo and
text editing daughter Shelly donated to the cause, the final product turned out
better than I had ever even hoped for. Although the delay in releasing it was an
act of God, the extra time allowed me to add some additional original photos,
historic articles involving Bill Halligan and radio at large and several special
surprises! I think you who will be receiving the first100 copies, the certified
ones are going to be very pleased when you sit back and see and hear William
Halligan, Sr. the legend, but most importantly, the man. The entire Halligan
Historical Project is about Bill Halligan growing up with radio and how they each
changed the way that history would unfold, but the focus is more on the man and
not the company.
This is a real opportunity to meet the man, see his smile, listen to his Irish
wit at age eighty-four and experience radio as this video makes it come to life
before your eyes.
It just gets better in 2006, as you will get a chance to hear 'LIVE' the two men
who were the Ham Radio operators on the 1947-1948 Gatti-Hallicrafters DXpedition
to Mount Kilimanjaro's "Mountains Of The Moon". I have spoken with them in their
homes and what absolutely fascinating tales they told! Some information never
before released, simply because nobody ever asked them the questions that I did.
I tried to learn what the world did not already know and what i learned was
fantastic! Amusing, emotional and sometimes very dramatic as a very close brush
with death took place. I will be writing a text transcript of the conversations
that will accompany the audio release. Which will include information from other
exchanges besides the actual live ones.
Great information coming your way, so keep the tubes lit and stay tuned!
Thanks to one and all for your support, patience and assistance. I sure will be
delighted when this nightmare from that story book character 'Chicken Little' and
his cry of "the sky is falling!" ends! In my case, it came true! Nothing quite
like having a cloud visit inside your QTH raining on you, your computer and your
spirits!
