I'm planning on disposing of 3 ea. 28 tty machines to clean out the
garage a bit. I also have some other equipment that needs to go. $50
each in the way of gas money.
1 is a panadapter with a 50-250 mc tuner, looks pretty nice, think it
needs some new power supply caps. two units in one rack. The rack
could go with it but not necessarily so. $25
2)a couple of Northern Radio Variable Master Oscillators, suspect both
need power supply work. One worked for a while and then now longer
provided output power. Might just be tubes as well. Don't know. $25 ea.
3) BIG MOMMA, about 800 lb. of Westinghouse rack. Has a 4-1000 with a
pair of 813's in the top of it, Middle has a pair of 450TH as modulators
and the bottom half is all power supply and modulator. Did i say big
and heavy. Fully metered as it was the modulator/power supply for an
Air Force 3 Kw transmitter. The 4-1000 in the top was not part of the
original radio system but added later. This thing is commercial in
quality. Took 4 of us a a couple of pack mules to get it out of the
building and into the U-haul truck last year. I think the transmitters
are now down in Texas someplace. NO SHIPPING, ABsolutely. It's been
inside my clean garage so it's not a junker by any means. Just needs
220 line voltage. I have the documentation that was with it, it's not
the original AF Tech. Order but the previous owners. Get this thing
running and i guarantee you that you'll never need a fireplace in the
house.... WHEW! Lot's of heavy iron for the builder here or it'll
definitely put some fire in the wire. $800
4) Johnson Viking II with 122 VFO. I used this as my primary AM station
for several years. It's extremely clean with a front panel almost like
new and the paint job is excellent. The Ip drifted upwards so i put it
in the closet as i couldn't find anything wrong with it. Since the
discussion on 6146B tubes as evolved, that's probably what the problem
is and i suspect replacing them will take care of that problem. When i
put new tubes in it years back i wasn't aware of the 6146B problem so
stuck a pair of them in it. Now we know the rest of the story as Paul
Harvey would have said. $250
5) EAC R-390A. Needs work, alignment and probably some new tubes. To
heavy for my back to move it around. It's in a rack but i'll get it out
of there and into the truck somehow. Has top and bottom covers. $350
There's other stuff that has to go also but i've got to make up my mind
to "let it go" first of all.
I mention this because i'm contemplating another X-country trip possibly
in November. Will be driving I-40 to North Carolina and can deliver
some of this stuff along the way. figure the cost of shipping some of
this stuff and you'll see that me delivering it along the route would be
a lot cheaper. I'll consider a small donation towards "gas". Don't
want to deviate off the route as this will be the 3rd time this year
i've driven that road and i'm getting to the point i can sleep part of
the way and not miss any turns. Towns are another matter.
Any interest?
